COMMUNITY

Community and relationships are the heart of the kindergarten and we strive to establish and maintain strong connections with each child, their family, and those in our wider networks. We hope to instill sense of belonging for everyone accessing the service that extends well beyond the kinder year. The kinder children are recognized and celebrated as competent and valued citizens that have a place and a voice in matters that affect them.

NATURE-BASED

We are passionate about children’s relationship with the natural world and the essential role that time in the outdoors has in supporting children’s health and wellbeing, learning, and sense of connectedness to the non-human world. A sense of place, interconnection and stewardship is fostered through our outdoor learning environments and regular visits to local sites. We recognize the Bunurong people as the traditional owners of the land that we meet and learn on and are committed to extending our knowledge of Indigenous ways of being and knowing, and how these can be celebrated through our work with children.

ENVIRONMENT & PROGRAM

Our environments are rich with materials that invite and provoke curiosity, hands on exploration, creativity, imagination, inquiry and problem posing and solving. We believe in facilitating the natural learning trajectory of each child through play and investigation, supported by responsive and reflective teaching strategies that are tailored to meet the needs of each child. We acknowledge children’s right to embrace and enjoy a rich childhood as well as the importance of providing the foundations for happy and engaged future lives. We have a focus on sourcing recycled, natural and found materials in an effort to contribute to a sustainable future for all.
